App Introduction:

As shown in the picture above, there is a map of the USA with each state outlined. The app starts with four states at a time and asks the learner to place the state in its correct outline. The correct outline on the map lights up for the learner to place the state in the correct place. Then after the states have been matched, the names of those states pop up and the learner must match the name to the correct state. If the learner gets it wrong, then it takes note and gives more practice with that state. The app has a learning stage and then a practice stage.

Ways of Playing the Game:
  • If there are only a few iPads in the class, then students could work in groups and help each other place the states in the correct place.
  • If every student has an iPad, each student can work on the app or even work in pairs if desired.
  • If there is only one iPad, the teacher can AirPlay the app onto the front board (probably using Apple TV) and teach/practice the states with the whole class.

Assessment:
  • Complete the “practice” stage and complete the map with all 50 states
    • See how many each student is able to get correct
